Birth of Scott Carpenter

Born Malcolm Scott Carpenter was an American naval officer and aviator, test pilot, aeronautical engineer, astronaut, and aquanaut.

He was one of the Mercury Seven astronauts selected for NASA's Project Mercury in April 1959.
